This was our home page for eight months to July 2008.
We have begun a new home page here as we build new projects!

Welcome to Nyalebbe
our home in the northeastern corner of the
Democratic Republic of the Congo [DRC]

We live in a very beautiful place, in the middle of Africa
... but our lives have been almost crushed by the Second Congo War.

We have formed the Nyalebbe Community Development Alliance (CDA) to rebuild the future.

We have drafted a three year strategic plan with this focus:

media interview2.1 Vision:
To achieve a sustainable and quality existence for all.
2.2 Mission:
To create a vibrant and socially conscious society aware of its rights and obligations in development.

You will understand that, as we embark on this plan, we are starting from a very difficult situation.

Many killed in war, homes destroyed... families destroyed by war and disease. Orphans, many nursing other children. We are here because we have strong hearts.

Despite the difficulties, we build from our strengths and want to build our community's social and business capacity, especially through improving the skills of the young. We are survivors and we will survive.

We would like your help to set up basic trade training for young people. We want to be self-financing when we can, and we are making great efforts to make our own contributions. For the 'start-up', we we have begun learning in two areas, to benefit both young men and women: see projects in left column. We are working on more projects!

The students of Dr. Aletta Jacobs College in the Netherlands held a sponsor run for Nyalebbe and came up with an incredible final amount of Euro 4800. Thank you!!!

We now have funding to launch our first two project... keep watching the blog for reports on progress and for news of new projects and project stages!
